Happy Earth Day 2013 - April 22nd
THE EARTH WITHOUT ART IS JUST EH
photo credit: The Ranger Ink Blog, Seasonal Color Palette: April
Ranger Ink has posted an April challenge to create projects that feature Ranger Ink's earthy color palette. The quote on their photo speaks volumes to me as a Canadian, eh. Seriously I love the palette and was overwhelmed with inspiration.
My project began as an art journal page and finished as a greeting card.

Photo Memory Box
Hello Bloggers, today I am sharing with you a tutorial for an altered wooden photo memory box I made using Graphic 45’s French Country collection paper. The box has a 4”x 6” photo insert, with lots of room inside to hold treasures. The techniques are versatile and can be used for a number of projects. Let your imagination soar.

How to Make Your Own Gesso
I use a lot of gesso in my art journaling, now with this cost effective recipe I can use even more.
1. Slake your plaster of Paris by mixing together 1 part plaster of Paris and 4 parts water. Let the mixture sit until the plaster settles to the bottom. Then pour off the water and mix again. Repeat this process three times. The plaster reacts with the water. If the mixture gets warmer than when you started, repeat the process. If it appears to be the same temperature as when you started, then your plaster is slaked.

Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of 2013
Well Tim has outdone himself. This month's tag features his new metallic distress paint. So many beautiful patina items; and the dragonfly, stamped first direct on the tag, then again on clear plastic - cut out and attached. Lovely.
Okay, what metal trinkets do I have in my stash? I was inspired to use metallic acrylic paint to achieve the patina on the metal buckle, chipboard letter, and the black and gold steer. The stained crinkly ribbon was a must - and the blue rick-rack and feather coordinated perfectly. This was a fun project to get the creative juices flowing.
Thanks for stopping by.
